The second and third week at work saw us working in the city of Yarra and St. Kilda. I don’t really remember any significant differences between the two; they both came across as peaceful places. I didn’t think they were anything special; neither the best nor worse place I had been too.
The weather was at its warmest while we were in either Yarra or St. Kilda because I remember working in just a t-shirt, compared to wearing a couple of layers while on Merricks Beach (but of course, the sea air would have made it colder there). One lunch time we were taken to a national park where we had a BBQ lunch. I was rather pleased with this, having a BBQ in Australia is something you need to tick off your list of things to do while down under.
During these two weeks, we planted several trees as well as doing a significant amount of weeding and cutting down trees. What a contradiction: planting trees and chopping down trees. Ha! Didn’t do both tasks in the same location though, so there was obviously some conservational reason for doing so!
One day during the week in the city of Yarra, Tim was ill and couldn’t supervise us at work. Instead, we were taken on a day out to Warribee Open Range Zoo as a treat because the lady (whose name I don’t remember) had not had any health and safety training and was unable to supervise us with the tasks. I was quite excited when I found out we would be going to the zoo instead of work because I was dying to see some koala bears and kangaroos! Well, come on, you can’t go all the way to Australia and not meet any koala bears or kangaroos can you?! Funnily enough, I don’t seem to remember seeing any koala bears or kangaroos at this zoo, but I must’ve done. Hmm…!!
